One Day In My Life

 A Day in My Life

    My name is Cherie Perez. I am married and have two, more grown kids. I also have three dogs and two cats that I gave to my daughter. I have troubles with my health that tend to make things challenging if possible to do. Here are some tasks I do regularly for most of them;

  • Wake up and feed my dogs and give medicine to one of them.
  • I take the dogs outside to use bathroom and do sprints.
  • Thaw food out to cook later.
  • Start laundry and try to keep up with it to avoid getting behind.
  • Take my medicines.
  • Go to store for needs and wants.
  • Cook for my family.
  • Schoolwork as needed.
  • Family time/ dinner time.
  • Sleep
  Being more limited on things, I chose to go to college for a new path that will not harm my health more to do, and yet help me provide for my family easier. Therefore, I am taking my classes at UAGC, and next semester I will be doubling up on all my future classes that I take, so that I can get my degree within the seventeen months I have coverage left available from the Veterans Readiness Program. One of my biggest struggles is frequently feeling like passing out. However, since I am the cook in the family for the majority of lunch or dinners, I usually can not handle doing both. Being the cook in the house means I also must get the groceries since no one else knows my cooking styles and items I would need. Since my dogs also look at me for their food and treats, usually I am the one to feed them and give them treats. After I feed the dogs, I let the dogs outside to use bathroom and do sprints in the yard to blow off some energy. Thawing out food to cook is important so I am less limited in my cooking options. Doing laundry is also important, since being in a bigger family we can get behind easier. Taking my medications is another thing that I have a specific order I have to do with it. The first medicine I have to take on an empty stomach alone. Then an hour later I take the rest with food. Shopping and cooking for my family are needed tasks and is a must, and schoolwork is top priority as well as the most time-consuming task. My favorite task of all is after having cooked for my family I get the family time with them as we eat and briefly after. Last but not least is trying to sleep, and any sleep that I may get is appreciated.
