Network Security

Through taking Tech 101- The Fundamentals of Information Technology and Literacy course, we have learned about different types of threats that technology comes across. All the way from Trojan attacks, phishing, malware, security hole, worm, hacking, spoofing, password attacks, security breach, ransomware and holing, and much more including Multi-vector Polymorphic attacks which are attacks that combine different styles of attacks to allow it to transform to avoid cyber security controls as it spreads. With all these threats that leave us vulnerable, Network Security is vitally important in the fundamentals of Information Technology and Literacy. Installing a firewall to help prevent these attacks is necessity. There are some free ones, however the best coverage does cost monthly or annually to better protect your private information and much needed information as well. Some choices to look for in network security are things like McAfee, Norton, Avast, Malwarebytes, Total AV, AURA, and AVG.

For the free option, I recommend AVG, just do not accept the upgrade they always try talking you into or it will no longer be free. Some protection is better than no protection so having Network Security is very important in protection for all personal information. It helps reduce the chances of being hacked as well, which many people end up robbed when that happens. And some cases lead to stolen identity.

Network Security relates to concepts of information technology and computer science as it provides a level of security and knowing you are more protected with all your private information. When computers first came out, they were given to small groups and were not accessible to everyone and usually they would be locked in a room for safety purposes and Cyber Security was not relevant. Now we must be more secure as there are many types of security attacks that leave us exposed for different reasons. Network security relies on the use of a combination of software applications, hardware, and security policies all the way down to the core. Programming in security is more for improving quality for better results. Which better results is always a bonus.

Application software plays an important role in network security. Downloading the firewall app of your choice is the first step to having security. If you do the free route for security then you run the app when you choose to, if you pay for the extra protection, they do all the work for you and provide even more security. Network security is related to databases and database management, but the level of consequences depends on the amount of private information that is stored. This can be minimal if no private information was ever input. With private information added, a breach can be very bad. Basic concepts of network architecture, management and security influence network security by providing a basis of security to go by. Which lays the groundwork.

The importance of Network security is of no surprise and is widely used around the world as it should be. In doing so ensures a protection that is not already given. One that is needed for safety and privacy. In future reference, all computers should come with a free firewall installed that offers the better protection plan as well. Until then feel free to upload your choice of firewall to better serve you and protect you with all your needs.

In chapter eight of Zybooks is where it talked about security and was helpful, along with a link on the bottom that says Computer security (Wikipedia) which helped see more in-depth information that was helpful. Also, in the Student Support Center going to Library helped me find a couple scholarly resources to investigate. Including Network security, Salem Press Encyclopedia 2022. As well as Network security by Andre Perez in 2014 found in UAGC Library Ebook Collection.
